Erin Shaughnessy, head coach of the Orono High School girls' soccer team, has been named Section 6A Girls' Soccer Coach of the Year. It is the second time she has been so distinguished.

"It is a great honor because you are nominated for Coach of the Year by fellow coaches in your section," says Pat Malicki, president of the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association (MSHSSCA).

A section Coach of the Year is selected from each of the eight "A" and "AA" sections. The names of all section Coaches of the Year will be displayed at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome during state tournament play in November.

A state Coach of the Year for each class will be selected by a committee composed of MSHSSCA Hall of Fame coaches.
