Penfield Little League

Select Season:  
Instructional (6)
The instructional division is for our 6 year old players. The players are placed into groups of approx. 6. Players use a cloth ball. In 2005 the program was expanded to six sessions. During the first four sessions instructions will be given on the basic fundamentals of baseball. During the final two weeks the groups are combined together to play a "real" game. The games will give the players a feel for what they will do at the next level, which is T-Ball. After each session each player receives a soft drink at the concession stand.

Fast Pitch Softball Majors (10-12)
The Fast Pitch Majors participates in a travel league with Rochester area teams. Everyone bats. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. Several all-star teams are entered into a local tournament.

Fast Pitch Softball Senior (13-16)
This division participates in a travel league with Rochester area teams. Everyone bats. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. Several all-star teams are entered into a local tournament.

Fast Pitch Softball Minors (8-10)
The Fast Pitch minors division was new in 2006. This division will allow girls 8-10 play in a more instructional league with their peers while still providing the benefit of inter-town games. This division participates in a travel league with Rochester area teams. Everyone bats. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. Several all-star teams are entered into a local tournament.

Tee Ball (7)
The Tee Ball division is for our 7 year olds. Players use the official Little League Tee Ball, which is a softer ball than the regular baseball. We allow 10 players on the field (four outfielders). Everyone bats from the tee. A side is retired after three outs or four runs have been recorded. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. The baseline is 40 feet. Local rules can be found on the Handouts page. No standings are kept for this division.

Mini League B
The Mini division is for our 8 year olds. Players use an official Little League baseball. We allow 10 players on the field (four outfielders) and everyone bats. In the month of May the players use the tee, and in the month of June players pitch the last three innings. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. The baseline is 40 feet and the pitching rubber is 38 feet from home plate. A side is retired after three outs or four runs have been recorded. Local rules can be found on the Handouts page. No standings are kept in this division.

Mini League A

International American (9-10)
The International division is for our 9-10 year olds that choose not to try out for the Major division, or do not get drafted into the major division. Players stay with their team for 2 years. We allow 10 players on the field (four outfielders). Everyone bats. Players pitch the entire game, and standings are kept. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. The baseline is 60 feet and the pitching rubber is 42 feet from home plate. The outfield fence is a minimum of 200 feet.   Two all-star teams are entered into local tournaments.

Majors American (9-10)
The Major division is for our 9-10 year olds. Players must tryout and then are drafted to a team according to standard Little League Baseball procedures. Players stay with their team for 2 years. Players not drafted are able to play in the International division. Everyone bats, players pitch the entire game, and standings are kept. Teams have 12 players on the roster. The baseline is 60 feet and the pitching rubber is 42 feet from home plate. The outfield fence is a minimum of 200 feet. Several tournament teams are available at the end of the regular season. Two teams of all-stars are entered into the National Tournament, and several other all-star teams are entered into local tournaments.

Majors National (9-10)
Same as Majors American(9-10)

International American (11-12)
The International division is for our 11-12 year olds that choose not to try out for the Major division, or do not get drafted into the major division. Junior Red (13-14)
The Junior division is for our 13 and 14 year olds and we will participate in the district inter-town league. The Red Division is the more competitive of the Junior divisions. Players can declare at evaluation time whether they wish to be considered for the Red Division, or go directly to the White Division. Evaluation is required so that players can be drafted into teams of equal talent in each tier. Teams have 12 to 13 players on the roster. Batting will be continuous. We follow the Little League rules book with few exceptions. The baseline is 90 feet and the pitching rubber is 60 feet from home plate. Local rules can be found on the Handouts page.

A team of all-stars is entered into the National Tournament. A summer season is offered for players interested. The format is similar to the district travel league during the regular season. Summer season runs from July to the second week of August.


Junior White (13-14)
The Junior division is for our 13 and 14 year olds and we will participate in the district inter-town league. The White Division level will be for kids who just wish to enjoy the game of baseball. Players can declare at evaluation time whether they wish to be considered for the Red Division, or go directly to the White Division. The same rules apply to both the White division and Red division

Senior (15, 16)
The Senior division is for our 15 and 16 year olds. Players must tryout and then are drafted to form equal teams. Managers will be allowed to protect 4 players on last years roster from the draft. This year Penfield Little League will participate in a travel league with Rochester area teams. Everyone bats. Teams have from 12 to 14 players on the roster. The baseline is 90 feet and the pitching rubber is 60 feet from home plate. Several tournament teams are available at the end of the regular season. A team of all-stars is entered into the National Tournament, and several other all-star teams are entered into local tournaments.

Big League (16-18)
The Big division is for our 16, 17 and 18 year olds. This division starts play in June. This league is administered by the Gate Chili Little League. Go to the links page to find links to the schedule and standings.
