Drew
The Bruins will be holding try-outs throughout the month of October and November for the 2009 season. Contact Andy Bringuel for place and time at abringuel@comcast.net or 703730-8448. The Bruins baseball club is looking for athletes ready to play at the highest levels of travel competition.

2009 Virginia Bruins are opening their roster for the 2009 season with open workouts beginning 10/19/2008.  The fall program will emphasize team development throughout the winter workouts. We will play about 65-75 baseball games in 2009, including several national "showcase" events. If you want to be part of one of the best and demanding travel baseball programs in the country call or email manager Andy Bringuel at 703 730-8448 or abringuel@comcast.net

The BRUINS program can be broken down into 3 distinct phases…

PHASE I –  When we began the Bruins Baseball Club we were interested in developing a group of skilled baseball players that would feed into the DTQ little league all-star team.  The MAIN CRITICAL ELEMENT in Phase I was to teach the FUNDAMENTALS of the game in hitting, throwing, and catching a baseball.  Each phase has an overriding critical element that must be mastered in order to move to the next level.

As 9 year olds the team finished 2nd in the district tournament and as 10 year olds the team won the district, state, and regional titles.  The goal for Phase I was to develop this team for a run at Williamsport but after a team meeting the decision was to concentrate on travel baseball because the field dimensions were better suited for accomplishing our goals in Phase II.  We modified our goals in Phase I to focus on Cooperstown’s NATC as 12 year olds and to ready the players for Middle School baseball.

PHASE II –  began in the fall of 2006 as the boys were “rising 12 year olds,” and continue through 2009.  The idea is to play “up” against older competition in the fall 2008 and ready the players for the try-outs in school ball.  All the players made their respective middle school teams in 2008 and most started.  In Phase II the critical elements are WORK ETHIC, DISICPLINE, AND RESPECT needed in order to get to Phase III.  The team’s guest instructors will include Coaches Brian Fitzgerald, Danny Raley, Michael Coangelo, Danny Beverely, Juan Pinella, and others. Over the next three years the focus will be getting the players prepared for high school baseball as Freshman. To that end we will be playing older competition the next three years including high school teams throughout the fall 2007/2008 and no recreational leagues.  We will play 2-3 select tournaments from September through December 2008.

PHASE III – Will begin when the boys are 15 years old and run 2-3 years and the focus will be assisting the player in achieving the goal of playing college baseball.  The critical elements will be BASEBALL SKILLS, ACADEMICS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE. The Bruins will offer academic tutoring including SAT prep, assistance in college application process, and exposure to college programs.  Each player will be marketed and the Bruins will seek assistance from our group of instructors through their collegiate contacts.

As you can see each phase builds on the other with the 1st being the FUNDAMENTALS of the game.  Baseball skills will continue to be stressed >throughout the program with each year additional critical elements being added including DISCIPLINE, RESPECT, WORK ETHIC, ACADEMICS, AND COMMUNITY SERVICE in order to develop exceptional athletes and extraordinary young men.
The team program includes winter instruction from former and current professional baseball players, strength and conditioning coaches, and dedicated team coaches. The team emphasizes the mental aspect of the game as much as the physical skills. The Bruins 94 have won local, state, regional, and national championships and play in many invitational and elite events. If you are looking for top instruction, competitive tournaments, in a fun environment the Bruins 94 maybe your team.
