After 52 years as District Administrator (DA) of Little League Baseball and Softball in our area, Art Mikelsen is looking forward to days when he will no longer be the central point for the day to day activities.  Mikelsen’s current 3 year term as DA for District 2 expires September 30.  On Sunday June 8, 2008 the presidents of the 15 leagues within the district elected Pat Ryan of as his successor.

Art is the only DA District 2 has ever had.  At 52 years of service as DA, Art is the longest serving administrator in Little League history.  He is a decorated World War II veteran who made a promise to God and himself when serving in Europe that if they got him home safely he was going to devote his life to doing something that was important, and important to others.  He certainly kept that promise. 

Pat has been involved in Little League for 15 years.  He has served on the Board of Directors of North Kitsap Little Leagues since 1994 and as the Chief Umpire since 1996.  He has been on the District 2 staff for 12 years in a variety of roles including Assistant District Administrator (ADA) for 9 & 10 baseball; ADA for softball; Umpire Consultant; and most recently as Chief Umpire Consultant.  Pat continues to umpire all ages of baseball and softball.  In 2001 he was selected to umpire the Senior Girls Softball Worlds Series for players age 14 to 16.  In 2004 he was selected to umpire in the Western Region Little League tournament in San Bernardino.  Pat has been a regional umpire instructor for the last 11 years helping to train volunteer umpires throughout the Western Region.
