2008 SMBBA Baseball Registration
St. Margaret’s Bay Baseball Association will be holding the 2008 baseball registration at the St. Margaret’s Centre (Arena) on Wednesday April 9th from 7pm -9pm and Saturday April 12th, from 1pm until 4pm. Players are encouraged to register by these dates, as later registration may result in the failure of getting to participate in this program or reduce your chances of getting on a particular team.
For your added convenience you may choose to visit http://www.smbbaseball.com to find all the information you’ll need, print the registration form and mail it with your cheque to: SMBBA c/o Sherry d’Entremont, 12944 Peggy’s Cove Road, Tantallon, N. S. B3Z 2K9.

Recreational Rosters, Coaches, Schedules and Start Dates
Please be advised that all the rosters are in place. Coaches for Mosquito, Peewee and Bantam are now in place. Schedules for Bantam and Peewee will be posted next Monday or Tuesday with games starting the week of June 11, 2007. Hammonds Plains Baseball assoc. are co-ordinating play for the mosquito and rookie leagues. We should here from them in the very near future. Coaches for the selected teams will receive their individual rosters tonight and will contact the players and parents in the coming days.

2007 Bantam Rep Try-Outs
Training and evaluation sessions for players interested in rep level Bantam baseball will begin with indoor sessions during April. Tantallon Jr Elementary gym on Thursdays, April 12, 19, 26, and May 3 from 8:00 to 9:30. Further evaluations will take place outdoors in early May. All interested players should plan to attend the initial training sessions. Players should bring their glove, a hat, protective cup and clean running shoes. No balls or bats please. BAY MARINERS WIN PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations goes out to the St.Margaret's Bay Mariners, who, over the Labour Day weekend, won the 2006 Nova Scotia Peewee "R" Championship at the Tri-County field in Windsor Junction NS. The Bay Mariners complied a impressive 16-0 record in league play and started their quest for the championship with a 4 game sweep in the Halifax District Championship, followed by another 4 game sweep in St. Margaret's Bay Year-End Tournament. The Bay Mariner battle the remaining Nova Scotia District Champions from Shelburne, Sackville, LWF, and Creignish of Cape Breton in the provincial championship. The Bay Mariners dominated their opponents in the Provincial Championship, by out scoring them 51-12 over the 4 game round robin tournament, compiling another 4 game sweep to finish their season a perfect 28-0.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BAY MARINERS NOVA SCOTIA PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONS !!!!!

Peewee & Mosquito Recreational Schedule 2006
The 2006 SMBBA recreational Mosquito and Peewee schedule have now been posted on our web site. The Peewee scores and standings can be accessed by clicking on schedule or standings icon to the left.
The Mosquito scores and standing are only accessable from the Hammond's Plain wed site, at this time, since that is the league the Mosquitos are playing in. We hope to be able to update Mosquito scores and standings at a later date.

2006 Umpire Training Clinic
Baseball Nova Scotia Umpires Division will be holding a training Camp On April 22, 2006 at Sobeys Tantallon Community Room from 9am to 430 pm. Training will include Level 1 and 2 Umpire Certification. You pay $55.00 tuition at the course and SMBBA will reimburse you for your tuition after you Umpire 6 games in SMBBA.
BNSUD Provincial Level Requirements:
LEVEL ONE (1)
No previous experience required: Shall attend and pass the BNSUD Level One Umpire Clinic. Shall be a minimum of thirteen (13) years of age. Shall attain passing mark of minimum 60% on
both field evaluation and provincial examination
LEVEL TWO (2)
Shall have been certified and registered for three previous years as a Level One umpire
Shall have been evaluated by the U.I.C. or designate as a candidate for advancement
Shall attend and pass the Level Two Umpire Clinic*
Shall be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age
Shall attain passing mark of minimum 70% on both field evaluation and provincial examination
Peewee Recreational Team Info
The results of all games must be reported by the winning team coach
to Steve Benjamin 876-0067 within 24 hours of playing a scheduled game.
In the event of a tie, cancellation (weather) and/or rescheduling of a game,
both coaches will notify SMBBA House League Coordinator within 24 hours of
that game.
The Umpire Scheduler is Daniel Hubley 826-7526.
If a game is cancelled due to weather the Hd. Coach of the home team
is responsible to contact the Hd. Coach of the opposing team and the
Umpire Schaduler prior to 5 pm the day of the game.

Criminal Record Checks
Baseball Nova Scotia has made it mandatory this season that all executive, coaches, team managers and treasurers have a criminal record check. More information is available on the BNS website www.baseballnovascotia.com
